How to use the 12-hour shift pay calculator
Our user-friendly tool helps you quickly calculate your earnings for a 12-hour shift. Just enter three pieces of information, and our calculator will do the rest, showing you your pay for one shift and forecasting your salary for the week, month, and year.
Here’s what you need to enter:
- Hourly wage: Your standard, non-overtime hourly pay rate.
- Regular hours: The number of hours in your workday paid at your standard rate. The default is 8 hours, but you can adjust this to fit your job’s policy.
- Overtime hourly wage: Your overtime pay rate. This is often 1.5 times your standard wage (time and a half). For example, if your hourly wage is $20, your overtime rate would be $30.
Note: The calculator only accepts positive numbers for wages and hours.
Understanding Your Results
Once you’ve entered your information, the calculator will instantly display your results:
- Average hourly wage: Your blended pay rate per hour across both regular and overtime hours.
- Pay per day: Your total earnings for one 12-hour shift.
- Pay per week: Your potential weekly earnings, assuming you work five 12-hour shifts.
- Pay per month: Your estimated monthly salary, based on 22 working days of 12-hour shifts.
- Pay per year: Your projected annual salary, based on 260 twelve-hour shifts per year.
While this calculator is perfect for figuring out your pay for a single 12-hour shift, the weekly, monthly, and yearly figures are projections. They can help you visualize your potential earnings based on a consistent work schedule.
